European Thyroid Association - ETA: www.eurothyroid.com
This year 35th ETA Meeting took place in Kraków, Poland and gained more than 1200 participants (a record number in the history of the ETA). You may see on the enclosed photos, all participants look very satisfied. The scientific program was extremely interesting with many EBM-based news for thyroidologists.
There were 86 oral presentations and 8 symposia with 25 lectures, 11 MTE sessions, 5 satellite symposia, 1 special report. Although Kraków was touristically attractive and the weather was friendly for sightseeing, the lecture hall (large enough) was never empty, which means that the scientific program of the ETA Meeting was found really good.
In order to ensure you the possibility of not missing anything, we organized an electronic poster session which enabled you to browse through all posters. As we came rather late to this idea, we were very happy to see that all participants accepted our invitation to send us their e- posters – Thank you very much!
We hope you accepted this way of electronic presentation of your results for discussion and, in our opinion, this has not killed the discussions at the posters at all. The ETA Executive Committee decided to prolong the electronic poster discussion for 12 weeks after the Meeting and we may inform you that up to the end of December, more than 75 members took part in the e-poster session which is now finished. We hope the idea will be continued/developed at the further ETA Meetings.
From our ”innovations” we may also list the ETA bicycle trip. This year it was organized to Pradnik Valley near Kraków . Not surprisingly, there was a substantial interest to participate and you may see on the photos that it brought great satisfaction. It has been decided to continue the tradition and we ask all the enthusiasts of bicycles not to forget it. You shall find more photos from the Meeting on here.
It was a very big effort for us to organize the ETA Meeting and simultaneously the great occasion to create a team with our friends from Kraków and to meet new friends from the whole of Europe.
Thank you very much for your coming to Krakow!
